APAX-5520 series controllers offer a compact size without fans, offering the best reliability. APAX-5520 features a VGA interface, enabling local displays, and its RS-485 and LAN ports offer communication ability with Modbus protocol. Internal CF slot and battery backup RAM can be used for data storage. These features make APAX-5520 as compact and robust as a PLC, but with enhanced displays, connectivity, and storage.

Target market: RTU (Remote Terminal Unit)
- City Water Treatment Market Characteristic (Distributed Station: Water SCADA)
- Liquefied Natural Gas Transmission Market Characteristic (Pressurization, Flow, Temperature, Valve Control)
|
- Market Characteristics and Requests
RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) are used as remote monitoring and control devices for a wide range of applications. The major markets include water, oil, and gas monitoring. These applications feature wide areas, so there are many small control stations upstream and downstream. Take water monitoring for instance, such as a city water treatment application. Rainfall pours into the dam upstream and engineers must monitor and control the water quality at this location. Water then flows from the dam to the water treatment plant located in the countryside, and will pass many water transport stations. The total area for this application is wide, so there are many RTUs installed around the dam, inside the water transport stations, and inside the water treatment plant. In the central control room, one powerful controller will be installed to collect related data from these RTUs through modem, Ethernet, wireless and GPRS. The interface will be chosen depending on the water transport station location. The RTU is equipped with less than 100 points of control I/Os, and there must be analog inputs to measure water flow, water level, and temperature. Besides, data loggers and data analysis functions are needed. Good communication interfaces are also necessary for remote control.
- Why APAX is suitable for this market?
APAX-5520KW is a compact-size and powerful data processing control platform. Except for control functions, it also offers related libraries for programmers to develop water SCADA application programs for RTU under VC/C++ and .NET language environments. APAX-5000 analog input modules let each channel to be configured with different input types, making it ideal for different applications. The configuration procedure is very convenient when the engineer works at the field site.
- How APAX is suitable for this market?
To satisfy remote station control and measurement applications, APAX-5520KW or APAX-5520CE provides remote configuration and program download through the built-in LAN port, so it is extremely easy to perform remote maintenance and service. Besides, a local VGA port is included to connect LCD monitors for local operation and service purposes. Using the built-in CF card slot, users can log data and system diagnostic information.
